Asia 2017 - Day 4: Temple of Heaven
Today we would be leaving Beijing but we had one last thing on the itinerary to visit and that was the Temple of Heaven.
We were then transferred to Beijing West train station where we could grab some lunch before boarding the bullet train to Xi'an. This station has 14 waiting rooms and looks very busy on arrival but the rooms do clear quite a lot as the trains start to board around 30 minutes before departure. The train would take around 4 hours and 20 minutes reaching a top speed of 308kph before arriving at our destination, where we met our guide and were taken onto the hotel ready to explore a new city.

Next Day: Terracotta Warriors, Xi'an Museum, Small Goose Pagoda and Bell Tower.
Temple of Heaven
Located in the south east part of Beijing, The Temple of Heaven was visited by Emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties for prayer of good harvest. We also saw elderly playing cards, chatting and practising their musical instruments together as we walked through the park garden area. It was constructed in 1406 to 1420 at the same time as the Forbidden City and was made a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1998. The park is accessible by Subway Line number 5 near Tiantandongmen Station.Hall of Prayer |
