Location: French Riviera

The French Riviera(Côte d'Azur) is located at the south east coast of France on the Mediterranean sea coastline.

Nice, France

I visited here in May 2017 as part of Expat Explore's London to Rome tour. We stayed a total of 2 nights in the French Riviera spending just over 36 hours total here. It was also the Cannes film festival and the Monaco Grand Prix on the same weekend that we were there, so the south of France was full of activity this time of year.

While I was in Nice i walked up the hill to get a nice shot of the beach and the rest of the city from a good height. I walked back down the hill and along the beach front area, this is unfortunately where a terror attack occurred in July 2016. There was a statue that had been put nearby to remember those lives lost. I then further explored in the city centre which I found to be very spacious and peaceful.

Monaco

We were also lucky enough to visit Monte Carlo on the Thursday of a Formula 1 Grand Prix weekend. We were there at 5pm on the Thursday just after the F1 practice session had finished and some of the support series sessions were taking place. We walked past the Prince's palace and after dinner went to the Casino. I didn't go in the Casino as I had shorts on but I spent the best part of 30 minutes walking around the track going down the hill towards the hairpin area.

One of the main reasons I booked to go in May instead of later in the summer was to be there when the Formula One was in the area, so I was pleased to be able to tick that off the bucket list.
