Warsaw
My most recent visit to Poland was part of Expat Explore's Northern Explorer tour. We spent 1.5 days here with the first evening consisting of a meal with the group and walking tour. The 2nd day was a full free day to do as we please with some optional activities provided by the company. One of the optionals I joined was a Nysa Van tour of the city. This is a type of van produced in Poland between 1958-1994 which we used to see the sights of the city. This tour gives you an insight into what it was like in communist times. In the evening I chose to tour the National stadium and meet up with a friend who I had met a few years prior in Norway.

Krakow
My first time in Poland was to Krakow in 2015, this was part of Expat Explore's Eastern Highlights tour. We had travelled from the Czech Republic and I remember the traffic was quite bad after some motorway maintenance slowed us down. Because of this we had to change the itinerary but I didn't mind too much as I was unsure what I wanted to do on the free day. In the evening when we eventually arrived we had a walking tour of the city.

Auschwitz
We travelled to Auschwitz concentration camp on the free day in Krakow instead of the day before because of the traffic problem I mentioned. Getting to walk around here is definitely an experience, and without a doubt one of Europe's darkest memories. We then travelled to Birkenau just around the corner which is also used by Nazi Germany in World War 2. The local tour guide here was excellent and very knowledgable and her English was very good.

In the evening with also visited a UNESCO world heritage site Wieliczka Salt Mine. This was very impressive to see and was better than I expected by the end of walking through the tunnels. My video from Krakow and Auschwitz can be found here:

Shanghai Museum We started the day by visiting the Shanghai museum. The queue was only 15 minutes long to enter and I had a power hour walk around. I don't normally enjoy museums too much but the 4th floor had some interesting stuff such as furniture and clothing. There are over 120,00 items on show inside this museum which opened in 1996. Furniture on the 4th floor. Nanjing Road After the museum we drove to near Nanjing Road where we were dropped off. Nanjing Road is the main shopping street in Shanghai. It is 5.5km long and runs from East to West. It attracts up to 1 million visitors per day and is one of the busiest shopping areas in the world. The Bund Towards the east end of nanjing Road is 'The Bund'. This is where you can see Shanghai's skyline view across the Huangpu river in the Pudong area. There was some low cloud but the mist added an extra effect to the photos. Yuyang Garden Our final stop of the day was Yuyang Garden wh...
We started the day by meeting in the hotel lobby at 05:30am to collect our breakfast boxes. We would be spending another full day in the Kruger National Park, only this time in an open vehicle instead of the coach. As soon as the winter sun had risen we had some early sightings of elephants and some rhinos with birds on their backs. Another morning highlight would be seeing a warthog waking up from its hole and wandering off into the bush. One new animal we didn't sew yesterday was a honey badger. A warthog just waking up out of a hole. We took a morning break at Tshokwane, which is the same place that we used as a rest stop yesterday. No hyena to be seen today but the monkeys were back trying to steal an apple from somebody who wasn't looking. In the late morning we would have many giraffe sightings as well as the usual impala's. Just when things were looking quiet we saw 3 elephants running to the watering hole. We took a break once again for lunch at Skukuza know...
