Just over a week until South Africa

I am now just over a week away until my latest travel adventure to South Africa. I have collected my train tickets from the station to save myself a few minutes on the day. I just have 4 more shifts at work to do then I can have a good clean of the flat and start to pack.
The suitcase I use can be found here. Despite a few negative reviews on Amazon I personally have had no issues with it on my last 2 trips.

I have recently just bought a new camera, the Canon G7 X Mark ii which can be bought here. It has image stabilisation which I was lacking on my Galaxy S5 smartphone which is several generations old. I also bought a 128gb SD card for storage which should be plenty to keep me going. The final thing I bought was a small tripod which easily screws into the bottom of the camera, allowing me to place it down more conveniently and frequently.

My outbound journey from the UK I have 2 connecting flights to catch and 1 further connection on the way back which I am very pushed for time. I have just under 90 minutes to change terminals and go through security again, as well as use the toilet and hopefully get some food if I have time. It should be fine as I walk fast but its going to push the limit of an easy connection. I will download the relevant apps I need to do online check-in the day before to also save some time.

South America: Ep 03 - Valparaiso Day Trip

Breakfast this morning was at 7am before meeting the lobby at 8am for anybody who wanted to join an optional day tour to the Chilean coastal cities of Valparaiso and Vina Del Mar. We drove for a couple of hours with a service station stop to stretch our legs, before arriving at our first photo stop in Valparaiso. Valparaiso, Chile We would have a walking tour of Valparaiso to see some of the amazing artwork around the city. This would last just over an hour, which also included a return trip on the funicular. After this we would drive to the beach city of Vina del Mar, where we would enjoy an extended lunch stop. After eating I walked right up to the beach front to see some of the Chilean locals enjoying their summer. The beach of Vina del Mar, Chile At 3pm we started to head back to the hotel, with one final stop to use the toilets and for anybody to check out the gift shop. 1 month to go until China!

As the final month approaches I have 16 more shifts at work before I am on my way to Asia for the first time. This will be continent number 3 after Europe and the African continent with Egypt earlier in the year. Something I didn't mention in the previous blog was that most countries will need a Visa to enter China. This is something I got with the help from this website . It cost me £182.40 for a 2 year tourist visa as there doesn't seem to be an option for a shorter period any more for UK citizens. This can be done in person in Manchester, London or Edinburgh or sent via Royal Mail Special delivery. South Korea and Japan thankfully don't have any special entry requirements from the UK and are free entry. I got my 3 currencies that I will need for this trip recently too. China uses Yuan(CNY) and is approx £1 for ¥8.62. South Korea uses Won(KRW) and is approx £1 for ₩1,489.20. Finally Japan uses Yen(JPY) and is approx £1 for ¥144.08. Those conversions wer
